Dr. Jennifer Mathis

Dr. Jennifer Mathis graduated from George County High School in 1995. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology from Mississippi State University in 1999. She then earned a Master's of Business Administration from William Carey University in 2001. She became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2010, earned a Specialist's Degree in Educational Leadership in 2014, and in 2018 earned the degree of Doctor of Education Leadership.  

Dr. Mathis began teaching at George County High School in 2001 and taught Mathematics for sixteen years. During this time she was named George County School District Teacher of the Year and George County High School Teacher of the Year in 2009 and 2017. She was named Star Teacher for 2009, 2016, and 2017. Dr. Mathis became an Assistant Principal at George County High School from 2017-2020. Dr. Mathis then became the Director of Secondary Curriculum and Academics for the George County School District from January 2020 to the present.  

Dr. Mathis loves helping students and studying the design of curriculum, instruction, and student engagement. She and her husband, Jeff, have two children, Jase and Jenna.
